Laying the strong foundations for children to realise their full potential.
By 2050, the children of today will be the crucial generation supporting some 922 million elderly across the region.
Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) plays a crucial role to foster an environment conducive to a child’s development. However, despite recognition that learning begins well before a child walks into a classroom, ECCD programmes do not exist in many parts of Asia. Only 53 per cent of the world’s countries have ECCD programmes for children under three.
First Read is our regional flagship programme under the Children pillar. In partnership with Save the Children, First Read focuses on providing children and their parents in Cambodia and the Philippines with access to ECCD materials and services. Investing in ECCD will help lay strong foundations for these children to realise their full potential.
