Prudential Corporation Asia is pleased to announce the appointment of Graham Mason as Chief Executive of Fund Management, Asia. He begins his new role in January, 2010.
Based in Hong Kong, Mr. Mason will be responsible for overseeing and driving continued growth in Prudential's asset management businesses across the region, spanning 10 markets in Asia and managing £42.2 billion in assets on behalf of retail and institutional investors.
Currently, Mr. Mason is Chief Executive Officer and Co-Chief Investment Officer of Prudential Portfolio Managers South Africa, one of South Africa’s largest asset management companies and a unit of M&G, the UK and European investment management business of Prudential plc. He replaces Arne Lindman, who has left the company to pursue other opportunities.
Mr. Mason brings to Prudential Corporation Asia a long and distinguished track record in international investment management. He has more than 23 years of asset management experience, 17 of which have been with Prudential. He first joined the company in 1990 in London, and later founded Prudential Portfolio Managers South Africa in 1994.

In addition to Mr. Mason's appointment, Prudential Corporation Asia also announces that Guy Strapp, Prudential's Regional Head of Investment Management in Asia, will assume the new role of Deputy Chief Executive, Fund Management, Asia. Since joining Prudential in 2007, Mr.Strapp has led the organization's strong investment team in Asia and has helped to drive investment outperformance throughout the past year.
Bio of Graham Mason:
Graham has been Chief Executive of Prudential Portfolio Managers (South Africa), which is part of M&G, since 1994. PPM South Africa is a retail and institutional asset management business, located in Cape Town. The business has an asset base of approximately 50% South African retail clients, 45% South African pension funds, with the remaining 5% being assets from the Prudential in UK and Asia. PPM South Africa was established in 1994. Prior to founding PPM South Africa, Graham worked for Prudential Portfolio Managers in London on both the Japanese desk and in the Global Policy Unit.
