Regional

Over the last several years, Prudential has supported Room To Read's efforts to build schools, libraries and language labs, as well as to publish local language books, in a number of countries across Asia, including Vietnam, India, Cambodia and Sri Lanka. Room to Read share our belief in the power of education to improve and enrich lives, especially children.
Prudential also donated first aid kits and school supplies which included uniforms, shoes and school bags to Sangkheum Center for Children, an orphanage located in Cambodia for underprivileged children.

China

CITIC Prudential Life launched a book donation programme across its national branch network to provide reading materials for underprivileged children living in impoverished areas. 100,000 books were collected from the public and from CITIC Prudential staff and agents and delivered to communicities in Guangdong, Beijing, Shandong and Hubei.

Indonesia

Prudential worked with Junior Achievement Indonesia to develop student companies to guide the students in basic business knowledge. Every Saturday, volunteers from Prudential visited the schools and assisted students in the operation of their companies. This assistance involved many different aspects of a business operation, including financial planning, marketing, developing a strategic plan, teamwork, and public relations.

Korea

PCA ASSET's employees particiapted in HelpAge Korea's volunteer business programme to build a shelter and serve meals to the elderly who live alone.
PCA LIFE, in collaboration with the British Council and SOS Children's Villages, sponsored the 'English Adventure' programme for children in communities with limited opportunities for English education. 'English Adventure' is a mobile classroom equipped with interactive software for a fun and innovative approach to language education. Installed in a custom-fitted bus, our classroom visits different schools and communities to provide creative English lessons to young learners across Korea. Over 10,000 students from 21 schools and three SOS Children's Villages have benefited from this programme.

Malaysia

Prudential Assurance and Prudential Fund Management made donations to Adelle Boey, one of the most promising junior female tennis talents in Malaysia. The funds are being used to assist 12 year old Adelle in her training and participation in local and international tournaments this year. Adelle is the top-ranked player in the national under-12 and Asian Tennis Federation under-14 age groups. This is the latest community service initiative by Prudential to focus on developing and nurturing Malaysian youth.
In its efforts to play a role in the development of human resources in Malaysia, Prudential Assurance introduced the Prudential Young Talent Development Programme. The programme enables high-potential students to acquire vital knowledge and skills to help them start their careers in today's challenging employment market. Sixteen final-year students from a local university were selected to attend the five day residential programme that focused on three key areas - a high sense of self-awareness, personal effectiveness, and key skills and behaviours during selection interviews.

Philippines

In partnership with Childhope Asia, PRU LIFE brought smiles to the faces of many children in Manila with a party at McDonalds.

Singapore

For nine years running, Prudential Assurance is proud to be the main sponsor of Prudential Children First!, Singapore International Festival for Children presented by ACT 3 International. The Festival brings entertainment from around the world to Singapore to inspire the imagination of children through high-quality teaching materials. Over 70 local schools were visited and more than 17,800 students took part.
Prudential Asset Management sponsored the Saigon Children's Charity in its first photography exhibition, which was held in Singapore. The charity, founded in 1992, helps disadvantaged young Vietnamese escape poverty through educational opportunities. All photographs were taken by students of the charity, aged 13 to 19. Some of them generate useful income from the pictures; for others, photography gave them a chance to express their creativity and broaden their artistic horizons.

Taiwan

PCA LIFE launched the Wishing Doll charity campaign to raise funds for the Taiwan Fund for Children and Families (TCF). The donations will be used by TCF to fund shelters and programmes for abused children.

Thailand

Prudential organised the PRU Fun Camp For Kids, an English language camp for customers' children, to instill a love of nature and encourage kids to enjoy learning English.
Prudential collaborated with Plan International Thailand to organise the Forest Conservation project to educate children on how to conserve and protect the environment. Forty volunteers from Prudential, together with 200 children and 300 adults, participated in the event.
Prudential collaborated with Plan International Thailand on an Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) Project in four community childcare centres. The one-year programme included several activities, such as infrastructure development, training for caregivers, and nutrition training for mothers. Prudential's staff volunteers planted trees, furnished 'learning corners' and renovated the childcare centres' facilities. Funds raised by staff will be used to support Plan International to improve the living and learning environment of 180 children aged two to four years.

Vietnam

Prudential sponsored the Good essay, Good handwriting contest with Vietnam's Department of Education and Training. The contest supports the development of writing skills for Vietnamese school children.
Prudential gave out 500 gifts to underprivileged students who could not return home for Tet, the Lunar New Year, so that they could enjoy the New Year celebrations in Ho Chi Minh City.
